Wake NCAE Endorses Sam Searcy

August 2, 2018

Fuquay-Varina, NC – Sam Searcy released the following statement on his endorsement by the Wake County North Carolina Association of Educators.

“I’m honored to have the support of Wake County NCAE,” said Searcy. “Public education is a personal issue for me, because my mom worked in the public schools as a teacher’s assistant and I wouldn’t be where I am today without the education I received in our public schools from kindergarten through my undergraduate degree at Appalachian State. My top priority is to ensure that our students, teachers, and public schools get the support they deserve. This begins by making sure we bring per-pupil spending and teacher pay up to the national average.”

NCAE’s focus is to support candidates who can help fully restore education funding to North Carolina’s public schools and move the state forward. The Association’s 2018 Legislative Agenda puts priorities on retaining and recruiting quality educators, increasing per-pupil expenditures (39th in the nation), and funding for textbooks, restoring teacher assistant positions, eliminating additional funding for private school vouchers, and providing professional compensation for all educators (37th in the nation).

NCAE is the state’s largest education advocacy organization for public school employees, and representsactive, retired, and student members.

Sam Searcy grew up near Hendersonville, NC where his mother worked in the public schools and his father worked in local factories. He was the first in his family to graduate from a four-year college and has created several successful companies in North Carolina. He is married to his wife Shauna and they have four children.
